What is the process for ordering a background check?
Criminal Data Reports has create four step process for ordering your background check.

1. Choose the school which is requiring the background check.

2. Complete the person information section, which outlines your schools background check requirements. This includes your name, date of birth, social security number, phone number and email.

3. Provide your credit card payment information.

4. Then approve the cost of the report.

How long will it take for my report to be completed?
Once you approve the charge for your background report, the searches are sent to our researchers immediately. 90% of the reports are completed within 48 hours. Searches may go beyond 72 hours due to achieved records, restricted public records, court closures, and other circumstances beyond our control. All of your criminal records searches are obtained from the courthouses in a specific jurisdiction. Once completed, the report will be sent to your school as well as yourself.

What information is needed when ordering the background check?
The name of the school which is requiring the background check, your full name, date of birth, social security number, and credit card information.


Does Criminal Data Reports take other forms of payment?
Students can pay by money order, Criminal Data Reports will not accept checks. To pay for your background check with a money order, complete the order form for your school and check mark the box for payment by money order, just above the credit card section of the form. This will provide the student with a total for the background check, based on the school requirements. The student then prints out the order form, sending it with a money order to:

How accurate is the information
Criminal Data Reports obtains its information directly from the court house within a specific jurisdiction. Criminal Data Reports use a network of researchers who hand search court records providing us with the most current and accurate information available. The information received, if any, is complied into a report and sent to you and the school.

What if your address history shows addresses longer than 7 years?

How do you price the background checks?
All student background checks will go back 7 years. We will search for criminal records in every county or state you have resided in based on an address history linked with your social security number for the past 7 years.

 

1. We charge your credit card $10.00 and run an address history search to confirm where you've lived

2. We calculate your search total based on the number of different residences and notify you of the total (minus the $10.00 you will have just paid).

3. With your approval, we start the searches and bill your card for the full search amount.

What if I am having problems ordering my background report?

What if there is inaccurate information in my report?

Criminal Data Reports has procedure in place to handle any type of inaccuracies in your completed report. Once you have received a copy, it is important to check the report for any errors. If you find any, you should write to the consumer reporting agency and explain what you think is wrong. Also, it is important to include your name and address. If you have documents that support your position, it is important to send copies to the consumer reporting agencies. The Federal Trade Commission has a sample dispute letter that you can use.  Send your letter by certified mail, return receipt requested. It is important to keep copies of the letter and enclosures.

The consumer reporting agencies are required to investigate claims within 30 days. The consumer reporting agencies are also required to inform a company of any inaccurate information it provided. The company is required to investigate, review the relevant information, and

report the result back to the consumer reporting agencies.
